Who are we?
Lions are people, just like you. We come from all walks of life but have one common objective. That is, to improve the lot of our fellow community members and to have some fun along the way.
What are we doing?
We are working towards improving the lot of our fellow community members. Feel free to explore the various tabs to get a feel for our activities.
Whenever a Lions club gets together, problems get smaller. Communities get better. That's because we help where help is needed – in our own communities and around the world – with unmatched integrity and energy.
Our Global Causes:
Lions Clubs International (the official title of the organisation) has five Global Causes: (You can find out more by clicking on each heading.)
We also assist locally where and when possible. Our members do whatever is needed, within their means, to help their local communities. Everywhere we work, we make friends.
Our club is part of more than 46,000 clubs and over 1.4 million members around the world making us the largest service club organization. We're also one of the most effective.
You might be wondering what does Lions membership require of me? All it entails is the amount of time and energy you feel you can put in.
The organisation is not religiously based and is not politically affiliated. Basically, Lions are people who enjoy getting together to help others and having a good time while doing so. There are two meetings each month of no more than90 minutes. Beyond that, time commitment is totally down to the individual member. From my experience, most people enjoy the company of fellow Lions working together on worthwhile projects and activities.
The Lions Club of Grovedale/Waurn Ponds needs more members to assist with community efforts in the local area; wider efforts on a national front; and also to contribute in a small way internationally.

Remember: Kindness Matters - Kindness defines who we are as Lions. And why we serve. An act of kindness may be small and personal, or large and profound. When 1.4 million men and women come together to serve, it represents a dynamic force for good.
